Opening Weekend 2010

The National Wild Turkey Federation designates an Osceola wild turkey as a bird found south of a line drawn across Florida between Nassau and Duval counties on the east and Taylor and Dixie Counties on the west coast. Osceola Ranch property is approximately 5 miles south of the beautiful Suwannee river in Levy County. The colorful community of Cedar Keys is a few miles to our west. Visitors enjoy fresh fish, clams and oysters in Cedar Key's many eateries.

The Osceola Hunting Ranch turkey habitat improvement project is the result of energetic participation of the property owners, David and Meredith. They are stewards of the land, preserving hardwood forest, cypress strands and wet lands. The 600 acres is family owned and operated and is surrounded by thousands of acres of conservation easement.  Acreage is planted in slash and native long leaf (yellow pine), pastures lined by Persimmons, Lezpedza, Carolina Jasmine, Scrub and Live Oaks.  Regular mowing, disking and proscribed burning is also an essential part of our wild life program. Year around feeding of game through food plots and supplemental feeding keeps a large population of game healthy and abundant.

Wild Hogs are plentiful on the property and hog hunting is encouraged.

Florida Hunting Regulations

The highly anticipated spring turkey season runs the third weekend in March through the third weekend in April.  The 2010 season was March 20 through April 25. The season's  possession limit of turkeys is two in Levy County. Hogs are plentiful and are included in the package price.
